IPL 2025: Full list of players injured, unavailable for upcoming season; replacements, updated squads

The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on March 22 with defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens.

Ahead of the tournament, a host of players have already pulled out of the competition, either due to injuries or personal reasons.

Here is a look at the players who won’t be available for the upcoming IPL season:

HARRY BROOK (DELHI CAPITALS)

England batter Brook pulled out of IPL 2025 to prioritise his commitments for the national team. He was subsequently banned for two years from the tournament as the league’s Governing Council had laid down a rule that debarred a player from taking part in the league for two seasons if they made themselves unavailable for reasons other than injury. The middle-order batter was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs. 6.25 crore after missing the 2024 season of the IPL.

Replacement: Yet to be named.

BRYDON CARSE (SUNRISERS HYDERABAD)

Carse was ruled out of the upcoming season after sustaining a toe injury during England’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match against Australia. The all-rounder was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 1 crore at the auction last year but will not be able to fulfil his commitments. The 29-year-old has been replaced by South African Wiaan Mulder, who joins the franchise for Rs. 75 lakh.

The Afghan leg-spinner was ruled out of IPL 2025 after sustaining an injury ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. He was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 4.80 crore at the auction, and will be replaced by fellow Afghan Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who joins the franchise for Rs. 2 crore. Mujeeb, an off-spinner, has featured in 19 IPL matches between 2018 and 2021, and has represented Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
