MS Dhoni is all set to extend his record as the oldest captain in the Indian Premier League after he led Chennai Super Kings in its IPL 2025 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.
Dhoni was announced as the CSK captain for the remainder of IPL 2025 on Thursday after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to injury.
Dhoni last captained CSK in the final of IPL 2023, where his side clinched its fifth league title after beating Gujarat Titans. He was 41 years 326 days old when he lead CSK in that game. Going into the KKR game, Dhoni is 43 years and 278 days old.
The second-oldest IPL captain is Shane Warne, who was 41 years and 249 days old when he led Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians in a match in 2011.
