IPL 2025: Punjab Kings confirms top-two spot, to play Qualifier 1

Punjab Kings on Monday defeated Mumbai Indians in Jaipur and secured a top-two finish in the Indian Premier League 2025.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side was first in the standings after the result and will play Qualifier 1 in New Chandigarh on May 29.

This was the first time since 2014 that the side finished in the top two after the league stage. It had reached the final that season and lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in the title match.

Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya starred for PBKS as the side shot down 185 runs against the Indians. The Hardik Pandya-led team will play the Eliminator on May 30.

If Royal Challengers Bengaluru beats Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday, it will face PBKS in the first Qualifier on May 29. In this case, Gujarat Titans will take on Mumbai Indians.

However, if RCB loses, it will have to contend with a place in the Eliminator while GT will advance to the first Qualifier due to its second-place finish in the standings.
