PBKS vs MI, IPL 2025: What happens if Qualifier 2 match is washed out today?

Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are facing off in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

There is a only a thin cloud cover over the city and the chances of a rain-induced washout are very slim. However, if the match is interrupted due to inclement weather and eventually abandoned, Punjab Kings will go through to the final, to be held on Tuesday at the same venue.

Punjab Kings will progress to the summit clash by virtue of finishing above Mumbai Indians in the league stage of the tournament. Punjab topped the standings, with 19 points from 14 matches, while Mumbai finished fourth, with 16 points from 14 games.

Punjab lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1 earlier this week, while Mumbai pipped Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the Eliminator on Friday.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru has already booked its place in the final. While there is no reserve day for Qualifier 2, the final has been awarded an extra day in case proceedings are interrupted by rain.

The IPL final in 2023, held between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the same venue, was held over two days owing to inclement weather.
